Instructors

DVM, Director, Veterinary Relations, Pet Insurance Emily Tincher
Dr. Emily Tincher is second-generation veterinarian and 2016 graduate of Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing a rotating internship, she worked as an emergency doctor in a specialty referral hospital, near Philadelphia, PA and as a Field Veterinarian for Nationwide Pet Insurance. She went on to work as the IDEXX University Relations Liaison, focusing on education and medical outreach at veterinary universities in North America. Currently, she is the Director of Veterinary Relations at Nationwide Pet, overseeing operations in the veterinary space, including industry relationships and outreach to veterinary students, veterinarians and veterinary teams. She continues to practice clinically as a relief veterinarian.
Emily is the Chair of the AVMA Early Career Development Committee and is a member of the BOD for the Veterinary Leadership Institute. Emily has spoken nationally about professional development and believes in building the communication and leadership skills required for veterinary healthcare teams to lead fulfilling careers while meeting their patients’ needs. Outside of veterinary medicine, Emily enjoys taking care of her mini farm with her husband Kyle, competing her horse (Blue) in the sport of Eventing, and endlessly spoiling her two perfect dogs (Tuxedo and Cricket) and rotten orange tabby (Exploding Poptart).

RVT, LVT, Veterinary Relations Consultant Sharon Burns
Sharon Burns, RVT has over 25 years of veterinary experience, and has managed private, specialty and corporate practices throughout Southern California. As a part of Nationwide Pet Insurance, she is a licensed property and casualty agent, and has educated and supported veterinary practices across the country. She is the newest member of the Nationwide Veterinary Relations Outreach Team.
Sharon currently serves as an active member of the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps (CAVMRC); the Treasurer of the North Bay-Westside Chapter of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA); and, as the CVMA RVT Committee District II Representative.
Since transitioning to working from home during COVID, Sharon has enjoyed being the foster mom to a plethora of kittens…on top of the three permanent feline residents! She also shares her home with Loosie, the teenage terrier and Ted, the 80+ year old California Desert Tortoise.
